Our History
Florissant Fire Protection District In 1989 the Divide/Florissant Fire Protection District was established as two fire departments/ one covering Divide and the other covering Florissant.
In 1999, as a result of community growth the District was split to form two Districts: the Florissant Fire Protection District and Divide Fire Protection District. This created two separate fire departments, hence the Fiorissant Volunteer Fire Rescue (FVFR) Department was established.
VOLUNTEERS The department accepts individuals ages 18 and above as volunteers. You do not have to have medical or firefighting experience because you will be trained. A sincere desire to help your neighbors is what is required.
As a "Zero-Tolerance" department all members are screened for alcohol/drugs and undergo a background check. Interested individuals should call the department.
If you have any question about the department or fire safety issues call the station and speak to the Fire Chief.
FVFR AUXILIARY The auxiliary department supports members of the FVFR by sponsoring special community events throughout the year including fundraisers. These include the yearly "Pet Clinic," "Pancake Breakfast," "Cleanup Day," and "Treat Street."
The Auxiliary also provide ancillary support during Firefighter and Rescue operations. The Auxiliary Department has 21 Personnel on Staff. The Auxiliary accepts applicants ages 16 and above. We appreciate your support. Donations are always appreciated.
